5 Steps to Becoming an A+ Mentee

I’ve been thinking a lot about mentorship lately and it struck me that being a good mentee actually takes just as much effort as being a good mentor! It's a two-way street, and both sides need to put in the work for the relationship to be successful.

I’ve had the privilege of mentoring hundreds of women across a broad spectrum, from corporate to nonprofit to entrepreneurs. I really appreciate it when a mentee "shows up" in the following ways:

💠 Prepared for the meeting with specific challenges/questions --> shows respect for my time.

💠 Reaches out to check in and see if she can be helpful --> shows that she is looking to build a mutually beneficial relationship.

💠 Amplifies a project or cause I care about on her social media --> shows thoughtfulness and consideration.

💠 Actively listens to and processes the feedback I give --> shows respect for my opinions and experience.

💠 Is responsive with deliverables --> shows respect, period.
